International Home Entertainment Division of major Hollywood Studio saves USD 3 million per annum with Prime Focus Technologies

Launches three times more number of titles in 60 countries with Prime Focus DAM Service

Managing a Content Launch event in one city can get challenging by itself, with the all the packaging, advertising, PR and logistics involved. But managing such a process globally, with over sixty distributors, can get overwhelming. This was becoming a routine for our client, the International Home Video division of a leading studio. The increase in the number of titles and licensees with each passing year meant bigger problems and a requirement for bigger teams in Burbank and around the world.

In the preparation cycle, the logistics of shipping TV Spots, printed packaging and promotional artwork for creative approvals, and shipping final artwork for production meant long lead times, errors, recall and wasteful expenditure. This meant bigger co-ordination teams, more shipping, more spend in production and delays in product launches. Delays meant fewer launches and missed opportunities.

Three years ago, we engaged with the client, offering a hosted Digital Asset Management service which connected the studio, marketing and operations staff globally, the creative agencies, licensees in the various territories, printers and post-production houses. Enterprise class workflows, a central archive of global assets for in excess of 1000 users, and collaboration in the eco-system spanning sixty countries has meant increased productivity and savings in operational cost. Today our client publishes three times more titles than before with USD 3 million in annual savings on the operational expenses. By enabling remote QC services on the artwork, our client saves millions more by avoiding expensive recalls.

Less print, less shipping and less tape means faster to market and savings in cost – surely something which would benefit anyone.
